For the Buena Way project, our client wanted to breathe new life into an unused dining room. The goal was clear: create a moody, speakeasy-inspired bar lounge that still feels inviting for a young family. We kept the original floors and layout, but everything else was transformed to deliver a space that’s both dramatic and functional.
One of the first things you notice is the striking glass wine enclosure. This feature acts as a showpiece and a subtle divider, displaying bottles on sleek black metal racks. The glass reflects the lounge’s layered textures and warm lighting, setting the tone for the entire space.
The bar area is all about rich color and texture. Deep navy cabinetry with brass hardware creates a sophisticated backdrop. The stone countertop and backsplash are true works of art, with swirling veins of gold and charcoal that glow under integrated lighting. Every detail, from the matte black faucet to the custom glass-front cabinets, was chosen to feel both luxurious and approachable.
A must-have for the client was a fireplace, and it’s now a cozy focal point. The fireplace wall is finished in a smoky blue plaster, adding depth and warmth. A caramel leather chair sits in front of the fireplace, paired with a sculptural side table. This spot is perfect for relaxing with a cocktail or enjoying a quiet moment by the fire. The combination of the warm leather, the glow from the fireplace, and the unique table creates a cozy and inviting corner in the lounge.
The lounge seating is designed for both conversation and comfort. A curved camel velvet banquette wraps around a round black table, creating an intimate spot for drinks or family game night. Overhead, a cluster of pendant lights with chain details adds drama and a nod to classic speakeasy style. The ceiling is covered in patterned wallpaper, drawing your eye up and adding another layer of interest.
Every element in this lounge was chosen to make the space both functional and unforgettable. The palette is dark and moody, but the textures and lighting keep it warm and welcoming. From the built-in wine storage to the plush rug underfoot, this room is ready for entertaining or relaxing with family.
