To catch up and see how this big reveal came to fruition, check out the Laundry Room Makeover Before! My primary goal during the laundry room makeover was to create a built-in look using my existing top loading washing machine and dryer. This helped the room function much better and gave it a more customized feel.
See how I designed the cabinets and their hidden features in “How to design built-in cabinets for a top load washer.” I added all dimensions and many pro tips to help you create a similar look in your home.

Cabinets
They always say the details make the room, and that is indeed the case in here. To create a small space, painting the cabinets and walls the same color can make the area appear more spacious. I used Sherwin Williams City Loft (7631) paint. A satin finish was used on the cabinets, and an eggshell finish was used on the walls.

Tile
I wanted to create a moment, a wow factor, a statement, and extending this accent tile to the ceiling did precisely that. I selected a mosaic tile (Alato Beachwalk from The Tile Shop) in neutral tones with a fun pattern. The glass tile picks up the perfect amount of shimmer from the chandelier.
To trick the eye and make the ceilings appear higher, we laid the chevron pattern vertically instead of horizontally. Doesn’t this make a much larger impact than if I had just painted this wall? Since there wasn’t a large amount of square footage, this wasn’t majorly expensive.

Chandelier
Before the makeover, this room was dark and had terrible fluorescent lighting! When we added this modern, sculptural 3-Light Chandelier, it immediately lit up the entire room and added great character to the area. The glow of these bulbs, y’all, I am obsessed. I am a little picky when it comes to selecting the proper bulbs, not only for the look of the bulb itself, but also for the tone the light emits, which can make or break the room.
Pro Tip: I always search for daylight bulbs with at least 2300k
Try this bulb color the next time you use bulbs and notice the difference it makes!

Hardware
I wanted to accentuate the gold tones in the tile by adding brass hardware. The pulls are sleek and timeless, adding a contemporary flair alongside the Lucite and bass knobs. These cylindrical Lucite rods sitting in a brass post added depth to the cabinets. Now, can we please focus on the gorgeous clothes rod and clothes hangers? A wooden rod and white hangers weren’t going to get the job done. These perfectly accent the room and create a subtle statement that suits this space perfectly.

Faucet
The only DIY project I decided to take on in this room might surprise you, and if I can do it, so can you! To tie the sink area in, I decided to change out the sink faucet and install this brushed gold swinging faucet. After watching a YouTube video, I was a pro! Read more about how to accessorize like a Pro.
Pro Tip: Do not be scared to add pieces with different finishes. Mixed metals are all the rage today.

Decor
Wanting to make this room feel like an extension of the rest of my home, I added fun and effortlessly versatile accessories over the dryer. Who says your laundry detergent holder can’t be cute?
