Friday Favorites: Favorite Rugs & Tips

Happy Friday, Friends!

Earlier this week, I did a review of my living room rug, and it had me thinking of more rugs. If you remember my rug, you can purchase it here. I have a slight obsession with rugs. I have a rug in almost every room, which is normal, right? It’s crazy how much one little thing, like a rug, can transform a room. Something I always try to budget for in my clients’ homes is an area rug. They really make a cold room warm and a lifeless room feel finished. I hope you like these neutral rugs that I have rounded up for my Friday Favorites. Ultimately, I have also included some of my favorite rug tips to make shopping a breeze.

There are so many things to think about when selecting a rug… color, size, texture, layers, and price of course. Also, let’s mention how many stores and websites there are to troll through. That’s hours and hours of searching that let’s be honest, most people don’t have the patience or time to do. I wanted to give ya’ll something a little different this Friday with my top 5 favorite rugs I have came across. Amazing right?! Hopefully you love will love them as much as I did when I came across them.

This year, you’ll be seeing a lot of tan and warm colors in 2018. Be ready because it’s coming! This rug is a great neutral rug with awesome texture, plus there are several sizes to choose from. This area rug would be great for a statement with all the details and pattern.

This Abbeville rug is saved in my cart. I love how warm the colors are.  It’s a low-pile rug that also has great texture, AND it’s at an amazing price. Can’t beat that.

Cement accents are going to be everywhere in 2018, so this grey wool rug will be a perfect accent and will keep you on trend. Think modern accents.

This geometric print features a wealth of depth and texture, adding detail to any space. It’s a great transitional style rug with neutral colors. And just look at that detail!

To add a little color to these neutral selections, I have included this Safavieh vintage rug.  It’s on sale with $700 off! You can’t beat a deal like that! Navy can definitely be pulled into your room as a neutral!

I really like this rug, and it is 20% off. Wouldn’t this be fabulous in your closet or in a girly office? Eye-catching!

Quick Tips: When sizing a rug, I consider creating symmetry. If I put the sofa on the rug, then at least all the front legs must sit on the rug. It is okay to have all four legs on the rug, too, one of my favorites! Not all rooms can accommodate a rug this size, though; it requires a large rug and a spacious room. My rule: If one foot goes on the rug, then all ends of the furniture (in that sitting area) must also sit on the carpet. It is best to have a minimum of 6 inches of the rug on each side of the furniture. Consider the pattern. If your room is full of solid materials, add a pattern and texture. This doesn’t mean it has to be colorful, but at least incorporate a neutral pattern with a textured rug. Doing so will be visually interesting and pleasing to the eye. Rugs genuinely anchor the room, giving the space a sense of completion.
